Gear up, get down and get comfortable, because “TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award” winning video game rental service, Gamerang, has more than 4000 titles for all major gaming consoles. There is no telling when you are ever going to leave the house again.
Gamerang offers five rental plans to suit every gaming lifestyle from the weekend warrior to the ultimate insomniac and with four distribution centers nationwide there is always a game waiting in your mailbox. Additionally, if you like your rental so much that you just can’t bear part with it, Gamerang gives you the option to purchase the game.
We found Gamerang did not offer a free trial or parental controls.

Feature Set:
Gamerang features include no late fees, no due dates, free two-way shipping, reviews, the freedom to purchase a rented video game and the choice to cancel your membership anytime. However, Gamerang lacks parental controls and a trial membership is 14.95.
Like most online video game rental services, Gamerang includes a queue, or a choice list, that allows members to select which games they would like to rent. As soon as your game is received at the distribution center, another from your choice list is mailed.
Video Game Selection:
Gamerang has more than 4000 game titles and their collection continues to grow everyday. We found that in addition to offering the most titles, Gamerang also offered the most platform options including the newest consoles like Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii as well as a few older ones like PS1 and GameCube. Gamerang does have PC games, but only to purchase. You cannot rent PC games.
Search Capabilities:
With Gamerang, you can search for your favorite video games by title, genre and console. You can also search for new and upcoming releases.
Gamerang has nine traditional genre categories including: Action, Adventure, Racing, Puzzles/Arcade, RPG (Role-Playing Games), Simulations (for example, casino gaming), Sports and Strategy.
Although Gamerang doesn’t include a parental control feature, they do have a kid’s category that includes more than 2000 game options that are rated Everyone.
However, the kid’s section is the only one separated by rating. There is no way to search other games by ESEB rating.
Video Game Arrival Time:
Gamerang has four distribution centers around the country, it only takes 2-4 business days for rentals to arrive. This is one of the quickest turn-over times we evaluated.
Available Plans:
Gamerang has four different unlimited rental plans and one 1-year gamer pack for $599.95. This plan includes the ability to rent up to four games at once without a monthly limit. Their monthly plans are:
- $17.95 monthly for one video game at a time
- $24.95 monthly for two video games at a time
- $49.95 monthly for three video games at a time
- $59.95 monthly for four video games at a time
Gamerang does require a $75 refundable deposit for those signing up for the three and four game options. This deposit is to ensure all games are returned within seven days of your membership cancellation.
Summary:
Gamerang included the largest selection of games with the widest choice of consoles we could find on the Internet and with only 2 to 4 days shipping time, you’ll never be bored.
